I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE these shoes! I am a 46 year old, 115 lb. female and have been running for about 26 years now. I run competitively in 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, half ironman triathlons, and am training for my first marathon. Sometime after 40, I began having a myriad of issues, the worst of which was plantar fasciitis (PF) that was caused by switching to a shoe that was supposed to be a neutral shoe, but seemed to have NO flexibility in the arch. I have struggled with PF for over 3 years. I have high arches and wear my shoes right down the middle to the outside of my foot, so I don't overpronate. I have literally tried EVERY neutral shoe on the market without success. My trainer and running coach told me about the Newtons, and OMG what a difference they have made! The PF completely went away!! I experienced a bit of calf soreness in the break in period, but I know that was in the transition to forefoot running vs heel striking. I have about 250 miles on my inaugural pair of Newtons which ranges from distance training (15 miles max) as well as speed work (400M-10K @ 6:30-7 min pace).
I have worn the front edge of the lugs down to the sole of the shoe. I'm thinking that I am soon to need a replacement pair, which I fully intend to purchase. I did read where you may go thru the first pair faster than subsequent pair as you learn how to run on your forefoot. Does it seem typical to get about 250 miles on your first pair, or should I expect to get more? I made the STUPID mistake of running in my Saucony Triumphs last week, and the PF flared up again. So, if nothing else, it totally convinced me not to ever put a pair of running shoes on my feet that don't have the Newton logo on them :0). These are amazing! Feel free to post this as a testimonial if you desire. I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your product! But I would like to know if 250 miles is what to expect on the first pair if you don't mind answering that! Thanks for developing such an awesome shoe!! - Alicia W.
